Between January and March of 2021, nut exports experienced a significant surge, with volume increasing by 90% to 6,248 tons and value soaring by 60% to USD 33.35 million FOB compared to the same period in 2020. The Office of Agrarian Studies and Policies of the Ministry of Agriculture in Chile (Odepa) highlighted this development. The export portfolio was led by shelled walnuts, which accounted for 62% of the total weight and value, mainly to Germany, France, and Brazil. Shelled hazelnuts were the second most exported nut, primarily to Italy, contributing 17% to the total. Rounding out the top three was shelled almonds, with 13% share of the total, and its exports were predominantly to Russia, Ecuador, and Argentina.
