Chile's prune production is projected to decrease to 55,000-60,000 tons in the 2024/25 season, a decrease from the expected 68,000 tons in the 2023/24 season, due to adverse weather conditions. Despite this, exports, especially to China, have done well and over 70% of stocks have been sold. China's imports of Chilean prunes have increased from 18,000 tons in 2023 to 25,000 tons in 2024, leading to expectations of a price increase due to strong demand and decreased supply. Chilean dried fruit traders are also working to expand exports to India, but this is a long-term project.
