The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam and the General Department of Customs of China have signed a protocol allowing the export of fresh coconuts from Vietnam to China. This move is expected to broaden the consumption market, increase product value and price stability, boost export turnover, and stimulate production improvement and quality enhancement in Vietnam. It will also generate more income for farmers and contribute to economic development in coconut-growing areas, particularly the Mekong Delta region. The Department of Crop Production is developing a Project on developing key industrial crops by 2030, including coconut trees, aiming to expand the coconut area, introduce new varieties, and promote sustainable intercropping. The ministry is also proposing solutions to sustainably develop the coconut industry until 2030, such as intensive development of two product lines.
