Peru has been recognized by China as a country free of foot-and-mouth disease, a significant development for the country's agricultural sector. This recognition paves the way for Peru to export beef and pork to China, potentially reaching one million metric tons annually and generating sales of over US$ 5 billion. The minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Development, Ángel Manero, believes this could empower small breeders in the Andean and jungle areas, allowing them to sell more meat, command better prices, and increase their incomes.
