The Chancay Megaport, located 70 kilometers from Lima, was inaugurated on November 14, 2024, with an initial investment of 1.3 billion dollars, aiming to serve as a key commercial link between China and Latin America. The port is expected to reduce maritime transport time between China and Peru to 23 days and slash logistics costs by 20%. The inaugural shipment from Peru included over 20,000 tons of fruits like blueberries, avocados, grapes, and mangoes. The port's opening is set to launch a more efficient and competitive commercial flow between the two nations, potentially leading to the availability of more Chinese products, including technological devices, at lower prices in the Peruvian market.
