In the first half of the year, Chile's seafood exports declined by 5% year-on-year, totaling $4.36 billion. Salmon and trout exports to China dropped by 7% to $129 million, making China the fourth largest market after the U.S., Japan, and Brazil. While exports of products like salmon, trout, mussels, fish oil, king crab, and seaweed decreased, there were significant increases in fish meal, squid, silver cod, hake, shrimp, and scallops. The U.S. remained the largest market despite an 11.2% drop to $1.4 billion. Exports to Japan rose by 5.2% to $558 million, driven by a 9.6% increase in the salmon and trout market. The Brazilian market grew by 11.3% to $501 million, with notable increases in salmon, trout, and fish oil products.
