During the APEC meeting, the Peruvian government announced an agreement to export pecans, chestnuts, and frozen fruits to China. Pecans, a product linked to the Ica region, have potential in the Asian market due to China's unique consumption habit of enjoying the product with the shell, a tradition that adds value for them. Until now, Peruvian pecans were exported to China via smuggling routes, often labeled as American nuts after being routed through the United States. This new agreement aims to establish a direct connection between Peru and China for pecan exports.
