Coceral significantly cut the forecast for the total production of cereals in the EU and UK

Experts from the grain trade association Coceral have reduced the overall forecast for grain production in the EU and the UK in 2022/23 MY by 21.1 million tons compared to the previous May figure - to 264.6 million tons (-23.2 million tons per year). The decrease in the forecast is due to a significant reduction in the forecast for corn production - by 14.1 million tons, to 51.9 million tons (70.2 million tons harvested in 2021/22 MY) due to hot and dry weather during pollination, in particular in Hungary , Romania, France, Italy and Germany. At the same time, Poland is expected to harvest more than 7 million tons of corn and become the third largest corn producer in the EU after France and Romania.
