Colombia reports 10% increase in arabica production in February; exports have a drop

With 1,025,000 bags, Colombia produced 10% more coffee in the month of February compared to the year 2022, according to data released this Monday morning (6) by the National Federation of Coffee Growers (FNC). Slowly, the neighboring country is trying month after month to recover coffee production after a significant drop last year, as a result of the La Niña climate phenomenon. In the same period last year, Colombia produced 928 thousand bags. "After the prolonged phenomenon of La Niña, the figure begins to show recovery in the volume of the harvest", states the report. In the first two months of 2023, Colombian production advanced 5%, to approximately 1.9 million bags, against 1.8 million recorded in the same period last year. Already in the last 12 months, March 2022 to February 2023, production fell by 8%, to 11.2 million bags.
