A new quarantine procedure for exporting lychees to New Zealand has been established, which includes compound insecticidal treatment at high heat and cold temperatures. The first shipment of 537 kg was successfully transported by air, adhering to strict pest and disease inspection procedures. Exporters can now choose between sea transport with a longer quarantine period or faster air freight with a two-day treatment time. All industry participants are required to receive education and training, implement product traceability, and review the protocol annually. The Council of Agriculture is actively exploring new export markets and has successfully opened the high-quality lychee market in New Zealand, with expectations to export 10 metric tons.
