In October, chicken meat regained its price competitiveness over pork after a three-month lull, primarily due to recent chicken price devaluations and high prices for special pork carcasses. The rise in chicken's price competitiveness is attributed to consecutive appreciation from May to September, which narrowed market liquidity and drove some demand away due to high prices. Conversely, pork saw an increase in demand for new slaughter animals, resulting in higher protein values and a wider price gap between special pork carcasses and refrigerated chicken. As a result, the price difference between the two meats grew by 42.5% in October, indicating a significant boost in the competitiveness of chicken meat over pork.
