The president of Mexico's National Chamber of the Tequila Industry, Roberto Ciprés Cruces, has called for a shift towards contract agriculture to professionalize agave cultivation, a key ingredient in tequila production. This recommendation stems from a study involving multiple stakeholders in the industry. Ciprés Cruces also introduced the Agave Social Responsible Certification (ARS), aiming to connect industrialists with traditional agave producers for direct marketing. The chamber is also focusing on expanding in global markets and promoting sustainability practices within the industry. The call to action was made at the chamber's anniversary event, attended by key political figures from the tequila-producing regions.
