Corn Harvest Accelerates in Bahia and Productivity Exceeds Expectations

The summer corn harvest in the Western region of Bahia is approaching its final stretch with expressive results. According to information from the Aiba Crop Bulletin, over 100,000 hectares have already been harvested by the first week of July, with productivity ranging between 150 and 220 sacks per hectare. The total estimated production for the 2024/25 crop is 1.134 million tons of winter/irrigated corn, cultivated on 105,000 hectares, and 270,000 tons of summer corn, distributed across 25,000 hectares. According to Aiba, the good performance is a direct reflection of favorable climatic conditions at the beginning of the cycle, which ensured excellent emergence and development of the crops. Despite challenges such as phytosanitary anomalies and occasional climate oscillations, the data points to an optimistic scenario for the crop.
