An international police operation, OPSON X, conducted by Europol and Interpol from December 2020 to June 2021, resulted in the seizure of over 15,000 tons of illegal food products, including honey, alcoholic beverages, meat, and food supplements. The operation involved law enforcement agencies from 72 countries and led to the disruption of 42 criminal networks, issuing 663 arrest warrants. The operation also highlighted the serious threat of alcohol adulteration and the sale of fake honey, which can be detrimental to legitimate producers and the beekeeping industry. The operation resulted in the seizure of approximately 1.7 million liters of alcoholic beverages and the issuance of 663 arrest warrants.
