Italy: Cured meats turnover and production dropped in 2020, the closing of Horeca weighs heavily

The pandemic "bill" is also heavy on cured meats. In 2020, the turnover of the meat and cured meats sector recorded a decline of 3.3% compared to 2019 as reported by Assica, the Industrial Association of Meat and Salami adhering to Confindustria, during the annual meeting. As with other products, the closure of the Horeca sector was particularly important. The production of cured meats also experienced a significant decline at the production level, with a -7.1% compared to 2019.
