Over 5.5 million families in Uzbekistan rely on subsidiary plots for food security, according to the Institute of Macroeconomic and Regional Research. These farms, home to over 12.8 million heads of cattle, generate more income than similar farms in other Central Asian countries and produced 63.1% of the country's total agricultural products in 2023. The government has increased support for these farms during the pandemic, including them in economic and social anti-crisis programs and planning to subsidize 50% of insurance premiums for farmers.
