Georgia is currently selling both local and imported strawberries in the market, with local strawberries being more expensive due to targeting middle and high-income consumers. However, prices are expected to drop in May and June with the start of the open ground season. In 2021, Georgia imported 1,323 tons of strawberries, mainly from Turkey, and the first quarter of 2022 saw record imports. Greenhouse strawberry growers, such as Agrospace, Topagro, and Ma gemme, are facing increased local supplies and imports, but are hopeful for higher prices with high quality and loyal consumers. These greenhouses use components imported from Israel and use drip irrigation, heating, ventilation, and shading systems.
