The Danish Food and Veterinary Administration has conducted a study on the welfare of pigs in farms, covering the period from November 2021 to mid-March 2022. The research reveals a notable improvement in the treatment of sick and injured pigs, with a decrease in the number of sanctions issued against farms from 32% in 2018 to 21% in the more recent inspections. Despite this reduction, the majority of farms still face penalties for not meeting the required standards, indicating an ongoing challenge in ensuring proper care for sick pigs.
