The International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA), the National Institute for Agricultural Research and the Benchaib Seed Company have announced the development of six promising varieties of durum wheat and barley that are more drought-tolerant, which will provide better yield and important nutritional properties. A joint communiqué stated that six new varieties of durum wheat (Nasheet, Jabal and Jawaher) and barley (Shifaa, Asiya and Khanta) were developed within the framework of the (DIIVA-PR) project aimed at producing varieties of cereals that are more resistant to drought and have better nutritional value.
