The Lublin Chamber of Agriculture is urging for measures to be taken to address the crisis in the hop market, caused by the pandemic. The pandemic has led to a decrease in the purchase prices of hops, with the current price ranging from 9 to 16 PLN / kg, significantly lower than the prices in long-term contracts offered by purchasing companies. The fall in prices and difficulties in concluding long-term cultivation contracts are attributed to a decrease in demand for hops due to the economic crisis caused by the pandemic, further aggravated by the closure of bars and restaurants and a lack of mass events leading to a significant decrease in beer consumption. The chamber is calling for the government to provide additional aid for hop producers.
