Garlic consumption in Indonesia exceeds domestic production, leading to a significant deficit that is met through imports. The Ministry of Agriculture is working to boost domestic garlic production, particularly in Central Java, which currently leads in production. However, farmers face challenges such as low selling prices and lack of market guarantees, resulting in decreased planting. Despite these challenges, advancements in technology and agriculture modernization offer potential for increased efficiency and productivity. The Head of Central Java AIAT, Arif Surahman, believes that with the right practices and resources, garlic production in Indonesia can be efficient and profitable.
