South Korea has secured an export quarantine agreement with Ecuador, enabling the country to export pears to the South American nation. The agreement, which took 10 years to negotiate, broadens the export market for pears, one of the top 10 fresh agricultural products with an annual export volume of approximately 20,000 tons. To export to Ecuador, Korean pears must adhere to specific quarantine requirements. The Agriculture, Forestry and Livestock Quarantine Headquarters intends to formulate export guidelines for Korean pears to facilitate the export process.
