The Office of Crop Products (TMO) reported an increase in barley planting in many regions such as Bursa, Konya, Kayseri, Tekirdağ, Diyarbakır, Çorum, and Sakarya. According to TMO's "Phenological Evaluation – Rainfall, Sowing, and Development Analysis in Cereals and Legumes (October 2025 Assessment)", a general upward trend in barley cultivation areas across Turkey is noticeable for the 2025/26 production season. In Konya, a decrease in the areas planted with durum wheat is expected this year, while an increase is expected in the areas planted with barley and bread wheat. In Kayseri, it is estimated that there will be an 8% shift from durum wheat to bread wheat and a 3% shift from durum wheat to barley. In Kırıkkale, due to the crop rotation system implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, a decrease of 8–10% in bread wheat cultivation areas occurred, with an increased tendency towards wheat and barley planting.
