Despite the global disruption caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the Netherlands maintained its position as a major player in the global trade of agricultural goods in 2020. Trade in agricultural goods, encompassing products such as floriculture, meat, dairy, eggs, vegetables, fruit, oilseeds, natural fats and oils, experienced less impact compared to other trade sectors. However, the catering industry subsector was particularly affected. Germany remained the Netherlands' top buyer, followed by Belgium, the UK, and France, accounting for 54% of total exports. Exports to China also saw significant growth. The country's agricultural exports, excluding re-exports, slightly decreased by 0.6% from the previous year, while re-exports experienced a 5.1% growth. The Netherlands also exported agricultural-related goods worth 9.8 billion euros.
