Ecuador is planning to vaccinate 4.6 million head of cattle against foot-and-mouth disease in a campaign costing around $5.5 million, with the vaccination set to end on August 31. The campaign, led by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, will see over 1,200 brigade members traveling across the country to inoculate all cattle and buffalo. The state will cover 70% of the cost of the vaccine, with the farmer covering the remaining 30%. The country has been free of foot-and-mouth disease for over 11 years.
