Ecuador's global exports experienced a 9% decrease in the first four months of 2023, totaling $9,989 million, primarily due to a 33% drop in oil exports because of lower prices. Despite this, non-oil exports rose by 4.3% to $7.370 million, with shrimp and banana and plantain exports seeing increases. However, imports also declined by 3.2%, leading to a trade surplus of $664.9 million, which is 50.6% less than the surplus in the same period of the previous year.
