This article reports on the recent fluctuations in fruit, vegetable, and herb prices across several Eastern European and Central Asian countries, including Poland, Moldova, Uzbekistan, Georgia, and Tajikistan. It highlights increases in apple prices, particularly for the Golden Delicious and Idared varieties in Poland and Moldova, as well as in Uzbekistan's banana prices due to reduced imports. In contrast, Georgia sees decreases in cucumber and greenhouse tomato prices amidst increased supply. Uzbekistan experiences price drops for parsley and dill, while Moldova faces rising prices for fresh herbs due to scarce local supply. The changes in market dynamics are not linked to the COVID-19 pandemic and serve as a tool for traders and farmers to manage price fluctuations, with the data monitored weekly as part of a regional project supported by the FAO and EBRD.
