REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The National Food Agency (Bapanas) reported that the national supply of chicken eggs is in surplus. This condition is not a reason for egg prices to remain high at the consumer level. The government has asked traders to return to complying with the reference prices to maintain price stability, especially in the lead-up to Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026. Deputy for Food Availability and Stabilization of the National Food Agency I Gusti Ketut Astawa assessed that the increase in egg prices at several points was more triggered by selling behavior at the downstream level, not a production or availability issue.
