Mostakbal Misr has supplied 1.1 million tons of wheat to Egypt's GASC since December 2024, with the majority coming from Russian private sellers and the rest from Egyptian traders and intermediaries. The exact arrival date of the wheat in Egypt is not known. Egypt, a major global wheat buyer, is closely monitoring these purchases. Mostakbal Misr has replaced GASC as the buyer, but the lack of transparency since then and uncertainty about private purchases has made it difficult to track wheat flows, especially from Black Sea suppliers. Egypt plans to import 5-6 million tonnes of wheat for its subsidized bread program in the 2024/25 season, with total wheat imports expected to reach 12.5 million tonnes.
