FAS/Cairo (Post) forecasts wheat imports into Egypt in the 2025/26 marketing year at 12.7 million tons, higher than the previous marketing year, due to increased consumption driven by population growth. Wheat production in Egypt in the 2025/26 MY is also forecast to be higher than the previous marketing year. Rice production in Egypt has increased significantly due to lower production costs and higher profitability, while corn production has decreased due to reduced planting areas. Consequently, an increase in corn imports is expected to compensate for the production deficit, with supplies of U.S. corn to the Egyptian market resuming due to competitive prices and high quality.
