The demand for tuna in import markets is rising ahead of the year-end holidays, leading Vietnamese enterprises to prepare raw materials. Vietnam's tuna exports grew by 32% in June 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, reaching over 85 million USD, with increases in frozen tuna meat/loins but declines in canned tuna. Major markets like the US, EU, and Israel showed growth, while exports to CPTPP markets decreased. New regulations on skipjack tuna size may reduce domestic supply, increasing reliance on imports. Vietnam's large production capacity, advanced technology, and flexible import policies have built credibility with suppliers, but enterprises must ramp up production to meet EU orders and benefit from tariff preferences. Failure to address these challenges could result in losing export markets.
