The Ministry of Environment, Housing and Land Management has issued a favorable environmental impact statement (DIA) for the installation of a large-scale pig farm for breeding with 2,640 sows with piglets up to 20 kilos, 500 replacement sows, and 6 boars in the Leonese municipality of El Burgo Ranero (León), promoted by the company Danakil Studios and Projects S.L. The resolution, published this Thursday in the Official Gazette of Castilla y León (BOCyL), considers that the project is "environmentally viable" provided that it complies with an extensive technical condition. In addition, the farm will need a specific authorization to exceed the capacity limits established for intensive pig farms.
