European Union corn imports have surged this year, with 160,000 more tons imported compared to last year and 300,000 tons more than two years ago. Last year, the EU imported nearly 19 million tons of corn, averaging 363,000 tons per week, with Spain being the largest importer due to a poor domestic harvest. This trend continues, with Spain receiving half of the EU's corn imports in the first two weeks of this year, followed by Belgium and the Netherlands. Ukraine remains the primary supplier, providing about two-thirds of the imported corn, while imports from the United States have significantly increased to 162,000 tons in the first two weeks, compared to almost none at the same time last year.
