Export Italian carrots decreased by 20%

As usual, the Italian Zanarini Consulting is happy to share some information about the prospects for the new carrot season this year. By talking to growers and studying the data of available statistics, we come to some conclusions. The start of the carrot season in Chioggia is just around the corner. We talked to some growers and also studied statistics that give us an overview of the past seasons. At the moment there are no data available about the area in the current season. But based on conversations with growers, the acreage seems practically unchanged compared to 2022, when, however, 30% fewer hectares were sown compared to 2021. The total area in Italy shrank from 10,415 hectares in 2021 to 8,071 hectares in 2022 (source: ISTAT). The 2023 data for Italy should be interpreted positively, as France seems to have 30% less product, while demand appears to be stable or even higher than last year.
