In 2020, Turkey's Mersin Agriculture and Forestry Directorate and the Mediterranean Exporters' Unions (AKIB) reported a 21% increase in the export of fresh fruits and vegetables, totaling $2.73 billion. The majority of these exports, 46%, were made to the Commonwealth of Independent States. The Russian Federation was the top market, with exports amounting to $948 million 942 thousand. Mersin led as the city with the highest foreign currency inflow, with exports rising by 9% in quantity and 18% in value. Other cities such as Antalya, Hatay, Izmir, and Trabzon also contributed significantly to the country's fresh fruit and vegetable exports.
