The Agriculture, Forestry and Livestock Quarantine Headquarters in South Korea has successfully concluded export quarantine negotiations with Ecuador, marking the first in ten years and paving the way for Korean pears to be exported to the country. This development signifies a significant achievement for South Korea's agricultural sector, particularly pears, which are among the top 10 exported fresh agricultural products. To begin exporting pears to Ecuador, Korean farms must be registered with the Quarantine Headquarters and comply with specific conditions such as pest control and quarantine requirements. The Quarantine Headquarters is set to issue 'Export Guidelines' to ensure compliance with Ecuador's import regulations. This expansion is expected to boost the export of pears to Ecuador, joining the list of around 30 countries that currently import Korean pears.
