In 2021, Egyptian dates exports saw a 21% increase, reaching $52 million compared to $43 million in the previous year. Indonesia, Morocco, and Malaysia were the top importers of Egyptian dates, accounting for 47%, 38%, and 5% of the total exports respectively. The Export Council for Food Industries played a key role in this growth, participating in the Fifth International Festival of Dates in Siwa Oasis and providing support to exhibiting companies. The council also participated in the design competition for the Egyptian dates logo and provided insights on global markets for dates and strategies for improving date exports.
