Ecuador's shrimp industry is facing challenges in 2024, with exports experiencing a 12% year-on-year decline in October and a total of 190 million pounds exported by October, marking a decrease in performance compared to 2023. Despite this, the industry has managed to avoid a more significant decline. Additionally, the industry has seen price increases, with large-sized shrimp reaching US$4.90 per kilogram and medium-sized shrimp remaining stable. Overall, exports are projected to slightly decrease from 223 million pounds in 2023 to 220 million pounds in 2024, but there is optimism for stability in the last two months to maintain similar exports as in 2023.
