According to a report of the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), due to high demand from China, from the beginning of February 2022 to now, the trade of cassava chips in the central and southern regions continues to be active. Thanks to that, the price of cassava increased from 50-100 VND/kg, most of the warehouses bought cassava again. For example, in Thanh Hoa province, there are 5 cassava starch processing factories in the province with a scale of 600 tons of products/day, the demand for raw materials for production needs to be 250,000 - 300,000 tons of fresh cassava roots. Meanwhile, Thanh Hoa currently has 12,000 hectares of cassava, with a yield of 18-20 tons/ha. With the above cassava area and productivity, Thanh Hoa can only ensure 60% of the capacity of processing plants.
