The Orenburg region in Russia saw a significant increase in cattle numbers in 2022, reaching 125 thousand heads, which is 10% more than the previous year. This growth is primarily due to state support, including grants that helped farmers improve productivity, quality, and create new jobs. The region's farms now house almost a quarter of the total livestock in the area. In 2023, state support for animal husbandry is set to increase, contributing to the region's high food self-sufficiency, with meat self-sufficiency at 95.9-99.4% and milk at 94.4-97.7%. The Orenburg region is a major supplier of dairy products and meat on the domestic market.
