In 2025, 1,368 farms in Germany cultivate a total of approximately 15,350 hectares of area used for nurseries, reported the Federal Statistical Office of Germany (Destatis). This represents a decrease of 10.9% (168 farms) compared to the previous census in 2021. Over the same period, the nursery areas have decreased by 10.5% (1,810 hectares). Compared to 2017, the number has fallen by 20.2%, and the area used has decreased by 17.5%.
