Anise production has started in Çeşme, Turkey, after a 30-year absence, with the first harvest collected and distributed by the Çeşme Municipality. The mayors of both Çeşme and Izmir have pledged to purchase the anise at a price above the market. The plant, which is grown by dry farming in waterless areas, has the potential to be an alternative crop in the region. The expected yield is 100 kilograms per decare on fertile lands.
