Prices for food products in Ukraine are rising sharply. Fish is no exception, particularly popular types such as mackerel and herring. According to the Minfin portal, one kilogram of fresh-frozen mackerel as of June 11 costs an average of 224.05 hryvnias. The average price for this fish in May was 197.18 hryvnias per kilogram. In addition, the consumer price index for mackerel in June 2025 was 109.25%. Compared to the previous month, average prices increased by 9.25%. Lightly salted herring has also risen in price. A kilogram of fish will now cost 212.70 hryvnias, while in May the price of herring was at 199.12 hryvnias. It is noted that the consumer price index for herring was 106.82%. Compared to the previous month, average prices increased by 6.82%. At Silpo, lightly salted herring can be purchased for 164 hryvnias per kilogram, and fresh-frozen mackerel for 139 hryvnias per kilogram.
