The city of Yeosu (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) announced that starting from 2026, the method of paying public benefit allowances to farmers and fishermen will be switched from the existing "Yeosu Love Vouchers (paper form)" to "prepaid cards." This system improvement aims to enhance the convenience for farmers and fishermen and to stimulate local consumption, thereby invigorating the local economy. The public benefit allowance for farmers and fishermen is a program that guarantees the public value generated by agricultural, fishing, and forestry activities and is intended to revitalize the rural economy, with Yeosu City providing 600,000 won per year to farming, fishing, or forestry households that are actually engaged in these activities. Starting next year, instead of Yeosu Love Vouchers, the allowance will be provided in the form of prepaid cards for use at participating stores within Yeosu City.
