When it comes to cotton, Brazil stands out on the national and international stage. In the 2024/2025 crop, farmers produced 4.11 million tons, while the export volume in the same period reached 2.83 million tons. The result keeps the country at the top of the global export ranking and third in the ranking of producers of the fiber. In addition to the economic performance, there are environmental aspects that contribute to the celebration of the sector this Tuesday, July 7, International Cotton Day. Currently, 83% of Brazilian cotton farms have their production certified by the Brazilian Responsible Cotton Program — the national standard for socio-environmental certification of cotton in Brazil — and by Better Cotton — the largest cotton sustainability program in the world.
