From the breeding farm to the refrigerator: The regulation explaining how identification devices should be applied has been released.

The authorities of Senasa informed this Monday the procedure for applying for the mandatory electronic individual identification of cattle that will begin to take effect from January 1, 2026. While last July it had been established that next year the calves or heifers of the bovine or buffalo species – as well as the cervids raised for commercial purposes – must have an electronic individual identification to be moved, today resolution 841/2025 detailed the procedure regarding the use of the approved identifiers. Regarding the pair consisting of a button caravan with integrated RFID and a visual card, the button caravan must be applied to the auricular pavilion of the right ear, so that the female RFID button remains on the inner side; the card caravan must be applied to the auricular pavilion of the left ear.
