From Thursday to Monday, Poland will find itself under the influence of cold air masses, which will bring a noticeable cooling and favorable conditions for frosts to occur almost throughout the country. According to the latest meteorological forecasts, air temperatures may drop to around -3°C, locally even to -5°C. It will be even colder at ground level, where – according to the most pessimistic models – mercury columns may drop even to -7°C. The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management has issued first-degree frost warnings, with a probability of occurrence reaching 80%. The alerts are in effect from Thursday evening until Friday morning, however, cold nights may persist in the following days. Drought is currently one of the main factors worsening the situation – dried land loses heat faster, which increases the risk of temperature drops at the surface.
