Despite the rise in international chicken prices, chicken imports are showing a steady increase. According to the Agriculture, Forestry, and Livestock Quarantine Headquarters, the number of frozen chickens imported (based on quarantine) in May was 14,895 tons, an increase of 33.9% from the same month of the previous year (11,706 tons), and 11,374 tons the previous month (11,374 tons) also increased by 30.8%. By country, 326 tons were imported from the United States, 13,859 tons from Brazil, 702 tons from Thailand, and 8 tons from Finland. By parts, 14,439 tons of legs, 411 tons of wings, and 46 tons of chest were imported. However, imports of heat-treated chicken imported from China and Thailand decreased slightly from the previous month. Heat-treated chicken imported in May totaled 3,144 tons, up 20.2% from the same month of the previous year (2,616 tons), but a decrease of 13.3% from the previous month (3,626 tons). By item, seasoned meat (China 343 tons, Thailand 2,676 tons) was the most imported.
