The article provides an overview of the market prices for various fruits and vegetables in Italy as of 5 June 2023, as reported by the Italian Telematic Merchandise Exchange (Bmti) and Italmercati. It highlights issues such as lower availability and higher prices of Italian apricots due to adverse weather and floods in Emilia-Romagna, and the impact of climate conditions on watermelons and green beans. Despite these challenges, demand for aubergines remains high. There are also noted decreases in prices for Spanish peaches and nectarines due to delayed ripening from weather conditions, and a decline in courgettes. However, tomato prices remain stable, despite quantitative shortfalls due to recent flooding in Sicily and delays in production in other regions caused by abnormal weather.
