The producer price of Hungarian strawberries at the Budapest Wholesale Market has increased by 7% compared to the same period last year, according to the Market Price Information System (PÁIR). The price fluctuated throughout the year, reaching HUF 3,800/kilogram in the 15th week and HUF 1,800/kilogram in the 20th week, which is 20% more expensive than the previous year but 20% cheaper than the week before. The Agricultural Economics Institute (AKI) reports that the strawberry harvest was 30% lower than the previous season, with unfavorable weather conditions in Italy expected to result in lower yields and crop losses. However, Greek strawberry exports may reach a new record, and the price of strawberries grown in foil tents in Hungary this year could reach HUF 7,000/kilogram.
